Xcion stood at the podium at the front of the hall, surveying the hundred-or-so citizens standing before him. He'd been standing here for fifteen minutes, and had silently been observing those gathered. He'd asked them here, all by personal invitation, due to the natural 'talents' they were renowned for having.

Xcion had been to countless planets before, but none were quite as bad as Eris. He'd seen the sprawling wastelands as his ship had touched down, and the cities seemed to be a mockery of their former selves. The vast collection of the population were misfits or rogues, hiding out in the lawless sector. Unfortunately, that sector now lay in the direct path of the Cyborgs advances, and Xcion had been sent here, as an advancement to the Empire of Earth Navy, in order to recruit. At the moment they had the choice; by the time the navy arrived, conscription would be announced. 'Our way or the hard way' he thought to himself.

Xcion looked quickly over his shoulder, checking that 371 was still in sight. Then he turned to the pedestal and began to speak. "A-Hem. I'd like to thank you all for coming," he began, "and I realise that tearing you all away from your busy schedules is rather irritating, but it is all for a good cause. Now, I wish to make my point clear. This is a recruitment drive. Any of you that are not interested in sticking your necks out for the empire, I suggest you leave now. Otherwise, hear me out."

Xcion watched as a couple of the members of the audience trickled out of the doors. 'Still a fair few' he thought.

"You may know me. I am Xcion. More importantly, I'm the creator of the IWTS that every space pilot uses. And I happen to be a TechnoMage." He'd expected outrage at this. Everyone knew of the rebellion. Not many knew there were loyalists...

Kenji walked to the front of the crowd, people moving ut of his way due to his unnatural attire. then, at the front, he looked up, yellow eyes flashing, and asked "What brings us to Eris now all of a sudden? It's never been a problem before. And what exactly do you mean by 'recruitment'?" Kenji looked up at Xcion, giving him a knowing smile. He was just setting up the questions to feed his curiosity.

The svelte figure of a woman wove through the crowd of rogues and cons, yet she would have no troble from any of them. The redhead darted in and out of sight of the pedestal, not wanting to be see by the technomage speaking as though he was here to save the world. The main reason why he was here, was to take those who were willing to fight for the empire, before the navy arrived to remove the rest of the rabble into forced service.

She personally knew which battalion she would rather be with, and that was the reason for her being here today. Not to fight for the empire, but to make sure that she was within the group that wanted to fight, not the one that would scatter and disintegrate at the first shot fired towards them.

Although she was human, she could manage on her own in close combat, her reputation preceeding her amongst the crowd, even if the speaker did not know who she was. Most of the men around her shifted as she approached, having either dealt with her previously in one way, shape or form. Although she was female, she was deadly.

Lumus sat on a crate at the back, he had forgotten why he had come to this planet. Everyone gave him his space, no-one wanted to annoy this man. He had more wisdom and experience, and practice than anyone else in the room, except one or two. His sword lay next to him. No-one who knew who he was dared to steal it. However there was always one. One criminal that decided to brave it. Such a man idled up near to him, his hand casually reaching for the sword. Lumus let him, he liked to make an example. "I would advise against that..." His deep voice going above the crowd. One or two people turned to look, some even grinned. The man grabbed the sword and swung it straight at the Lumus. "Now, now, this is your last chance, put it back and be gone or you WILL regret it." His voice hardened slightly and his two differently coloured eyes seemed to flash in the light as the sword swung past his arm, missing him only slightly. He didn't move in the slightest except his head which fixed the man with his eyes.

The man grunted and swung at him. Suddenly, just before impact the sword froze, at though it could not bare to hurt its master. Lumus lifted a hand as the man tugged at the sword grunting. More and more people turned to watch. "Don't say I didn't warn you..." the man let loose a slightly strained laugh. Lumus shrugged and his hand started to glow softly, then the sword glowed back in time. There was a soft hissing. The man cried out, his hand being burnt badly by the sword that he now seemed incapable of letting go. His hands slowly turned black, it was literally burning him. In a flash, a knife came from Lumus's robe and he threw it, straight into the mans forehead and the man topped backwards. As Lumus got up to remove and clean his dagger which he put away, the sword returned to its original place as though by itself and he returned to sit next to it. Lumus returned his attention back to the techno-mage, ignoring the stares.

371 stood motionless behind the TechoMage, arms locked in a forward position. "Violent action has been detected among members of the crowd. What is the recommended protocol?" The robot asked in a tinny, high pitched, robotic voice; it was illegal to build a robot in the likeness of a human, even in its voice, since Cyborg War began, but Xcion had done well to curb the rules, creating a robot that was just out of proportion enough not to look human, and thus being legal. Realising that he was not being responded to, 371 asked again: "What is the intended course of action." He was programmed to reword himself if he felt that he was not being understood, which some say broke the rules, as this was a human characteristic.

Xcion looked over his shoulder and said "Execute protocol Delta. And take it easy." Turning to the crowd, he looked towards where the commotion had started. 'Troublemakers, as ever.' He had known that this planet was infested with criminal activity, but even here where he had personally invited everyone? Sighing, Xcion decided to start again, with the truth.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, you will, in approximately fourty-eight hours, be forced into conscription if you remain here. I am offering a select few of you to join me in my 'quest' to stop the advances of the Cyborgs. I need you, and you need me. If you want to leave, do, and if you think you might want to stick by me, then i suggest you stand up on this stage with me."

Flexing his bionic fingers, Xcion gave a cold look into the crowd. It was decision time.

Vacantly, Kenji glanced at the floor in doubt. the doubt that in forty-eight hours he will be fighting alongside a party that contains individuals that have already began conflict. Kenji had ambitions, but in contrast was not the most confident individual to live out his dreams, despite his erratic spontaneity. In the long run, he knew in the back of his mind exactly what brought him here - the redemption of his bloodline. But yet that did not necessarily pierce his thought at this moment in time.

He shut his eyes, regained his concentration briefly, and reopened his eyes and welcomed this hall with a smile. Throwing back his scarf, he wonders to himself what this new world will offer him. New perceptions, new experiences, but most importantly new opportunities to prove his races worth, and with this heirloom optimistic mindset he subconsciously grants Lumus his forgiveness, and begins a new trail of thought.

As an attempt to adapt to his current environment, Kenji paces the hall weaving in and out of groups and individuals, attempting not to create any major distractions from Xcion. Catching glares and snarls, Kenji replies with his friendly attitude, to smile, and keep the atmosphere high before the upcoming inevitable downfall, as he felt it was the best action to take, for who knew what horror could lie ahead for not only Xcion, or perhaps the talented people attending this gathering, but potentially for those who are innocent and pure outside of this world.

Lumus watched the mages robot but ignored it. The Techno-mage had his attention. He picked up his sword and sheathed it. And slowly walked forwards, the crowd parted for him. He then looked up at the Techno-mage.
"Is it not strange, that a Techno-mage comes to our planet? Right before a wave of attacks may happen, that are created by Techno-mages. And he somehow expects us to take his word that he is not simply trying to double cross us. Also, what does this 'quest' involve? And explain to me why we should follow you to do it? This planet is most probably doomed anyway. So how will this quest save it? You seem to assume that we should trust you on a basis that... well you give no basis. As far as I know, you could be the very enemy that you are trying to 'save' us from." His deep voice trailed off and waited for a response. He stood right in front of the stage, just below the Techno-mage. He stepped up onto the stage and stood there silent, right infront of the Techn-mage. His distrust of the 'robot age' very much apparent. He wanted answers, and unless they were good, then he was tempted to melt this abomination. And his robot.

She watched the questions and accusations fly thick and fast through the room, as she shifted through the pockets left by the crowd, making her way close to the stage, but not actually putting her foot onto it.

Lumus's voice rang out over the crowd, which caused her pause, and she looked up at the techno-mage and his robot, and she decided to listen to the answers before making her decision

The sudden change of the crowd brought Kenji's daydreaming to an abrupt end.

As silence shrouded the hall, Kenji's eyes widened and dilated, and fixated upon Lumus for a few seconds. He backed away from the huddles of people at the front of the stage with slow, flowing movements.

He ultimately perched himself near the entrance, with folded arms he gave Xcion a reassuring look, with a tilted head and a grin on one side, he knew Xcion had the answers and perhaps even a plan that will satisfy everyone’s curiosity.

But of course, we can be certain of nothing based on assumptions, and only hope for now, but until Kenji was in the full knowledge that everyone in this hall understood the reason for their presence, he would continue to spectate though wondering eyes.

371 had begun to walk to the side of the stage, and was about to begin his patrol, when the man whom he had detected being the victim of violence stepped up onto the stage and stand threateningly in front of his creator, after a long speech of cynical words. Suddenly, 371 placed his left hand on his right wrist, and the barrels of his wrist mounted minigun, which was held below his right wrist, began to spin, ready to fire at will and protect his master. His voice began again in its usual, polite tone:
"Protocal Delta - patrol - aborted due to programming over-ride. Protocol Alpha - protection - initiated. It is recommended that an adequate space be made between hostiles and the master, and that all hostile weapons be disarmed immediately, to make identification of potential and actual threats less prone to error. Please now step back from the master and ensure that all weapons are in a safe position."

Kenji suddenly had a bout of paranoia that in his eyes would bring about the end of this meeting. Maybe, just maybe, it was time for him to take action.

Without particularly thinking about his next actions, he sheathed both of his weapons so they were concealed, slowly crouches and glares at the stage. He jumps with all his might over the entire crowd and lands knee first onto the stage, creating a minor crater on landing. Without hesitation he instantly regrets to land between 371 and Lumus, but does not fear for his potential to be filled with whatever is filled in 317's arm.

Kenji stands up, adjusts his scarf calmly, and speaks.
"Xcion, it is time for you to tell everyone exactly what is going on as this suspicion could bring about the end of this. Perhaps an explanation of what exactly the IWTS is may bring about some respect.

I fear not for your wellbeing, as after all you are a TechnoMage, but what about ours?"

He finally turns to 371 and pulls a fantastic grin coupled with a ‘thumbs up’, just to re-insure his safety.

(ooc: i hope its alright that i just do random things just to create more of a scene for this lemme know if im slippin over myself or if its just pants)

Xcion sighed briefly, and sadness filled his eyes. He had been to a thousand different planets, and this reaction had occured each time.

"371, stand down. Abort." Turning to the corwd, he said "You must understand, Lumus, that the technological age is just dawning in the eyes of the Cyborgs and their masters. I am not one of the traitors. I have no evidence of that, of course i do not. But i simply ask that common sense take hold of you, and that you listen. No, listening will not do. I need you to see."

With that he raised his augmented arm. The door at the back of the hall began to shake and shudder, then was wrenched out of place. The metal that comprised the door and it's frame then began to liquefy, turning to small globules that expanded to fill the roof of the hall. Xcion was concentrating hard on reshaping and reorganising where the globules of metal went.

"This is an accurate representation of our galaxy," he said. Then he gathered the remaining metal, and melted it into a large fluid sheet that began to flow over the 'planets'. "This is the Cyborgs current advancement." The plate hovered in mid-air, covering at least half of the globs. Then a single small glob began to glow a deep heated red.

"That is where we are right now, Eris." The glob was right in front of the large plate, an insignificant speck against a metal background.

"This is possibly the last chance you will have to survive. The navy will get you killed. Staying here will get you killed. At least with me, theres a chance i can stop this. So i beg you, help me to stop this abomination, and let me prove my worth through my actions.

"I knew it!" Kenji blurted out in a celebratory shudder
"you were going to help us all along! and i guess the rest is simple - you brought talented individuals as they have the best abilities to assist eachother in our survival.
But yet i have one more doubt."

His excitement dropped at this sudden brainwave, and so did his expression and tone.
"That diagram you just showed us all, i know you are deadly serious about this, what is your exact plan, you know, destination, attack method, or even defence method, enlighten us"

Kenji looked around the hall while saying this for reassurance, even a nod would have satisfied this, fortunately he recieved a mumble of aggreing words from the audience and a few nods, until he spoke of one more question.

This very question brought about the silence of the entire hall.

"what..are the chances of survival on our pilgrimage?"

Kenji waited in silence, patiently for a reply, hoping with all his optomism that it'll be a happy ending.

"The plan, as you say, is to find out what the Cyborgs are doing with the planets once they take them. There are no eye witnesses of how a planet is changed by their technological presence, and so to discover their weakness we must discover what it is they are doing. I may also have devised a way to shut down the Cyborgs if my predictions are correct, although i hope i do not have to resort to my plan."

Xcion paused before he answered the last question. In his heart, he had already settled that he would complete his mission or die, or both if necessary. By bringing in others, he was not sure if it would increase the chances of success, or simply increase collateral damage.

"It will not be easy, Kenji. This has never happened before in our galaxy. But if you come with me, and listen to my guidance, we WILL survive."

Then he added in a whisper "Maybe..."

With a flick of his metal arm, the door reassembled itself and flew back into place. It was decision time.
