Naru almost jumped att he crackle of static from the radio, which she had not noticed earlier. Paying attention to the message, when the call to arms came about all she did was simply move forward.

Andz ran up range. He had removed the box mag and bolt from the M249. It was too heavy to run with, but he wasn't going to leave it near the two new guys. He felt safer, even if he was a hundred metres or so aay from them.

Zeroing the .50cal took less than a few minutes, it being second nature to him after the many years he had held a weapon. He returned to the group having only emptied one magazine. He was still stocked up on ammunition, and would have more than enough for the siege. If the siege went as planned that was. If it was planned well enough.

"When do we set off then? Oh, and are you sure about taking these other two?" He eyed them suspiciously. No one came to a Pirate base with good intentions.

"There's nowhere else to leave them," Robert told Andz, "and we can't just lock them up again- it wouldn't be fair. We'll be leaving in half an hour, anyway, with them or not."
The radio in Solaski's hand crackled into life again, the dame voice as before reporting in:
"First wave in en route to Porthaven, Solaski. Next shipment is in half an hour; hope you can join us."
"Got is, thank you." Solaski answered.
"Does that answer your other question, Andz?" Robert asked.

"Half an hour? Hot damn! What am I going to do till then?"

He quick checked himself, before pulling a fresh magazine from a webbing pouch and sliding it into the .50 and taking up the prone position. He began firing slowly and methodically. Each time, a round went through the same hole as before. Every so often he would shift lanes and fire at the same target from a different angles.

But he never missed. It was his pride.

Robert and Solaski each picked up an AK-101 from the armoury next to the entrance to the range and began having a test of accuracy against each other, while Greg and Tai stood guard behind them. As the two used up their last magazine of ammuniton, the distant sound of gunfire was slowly starting to sound out of place to Robert. Then, all of a sudden, Robert realised what was so out of place about it: the sound was distant, and not coming from the range. He knew that Solaski would not have heard it, having once been half deafened by a malfunctioning flashbang.
"Sol, can I borrow your radio?" Robert asked calmly, who was promptly responded to with the silent handing over of the radio, which Robert brought to his mouth and spoke into. "Is there anyone there? What's going on?"
After a few moments of silence and repeating his command, eventually someone responded in a hurried voice:
"We're under attack!" He cried. "They came not long after the first wave left. It looks like a planned attack. We need to protect Solaski. Is that Robert?"
"It is. Solaski's with me." Robert replied.
"Get him out of here, quickly." The man replied. "We can hold them off, but not for long, and we've lost the Sat Room, so can't get in contact with the first wave."
Just then, Solaski snatched the radio back off Robert and called into it:
"This is Solaski. I'm not going anywhere. Nobody attacks Republika and gets away with it. I'm going for the Sat Room. Try to make your way there."
"It's held with a machinegun. I can't."
"Then just hold position. We're coming for you, Wolfgang."
"Understood." The man finished.

"Right." Solaski smiled. "Looks like we better get this man a gun." He said, handing Raythus the empty AK-101 and pulling a Glock pistol from his side.

Raythus looked at the emptied AK with disgust. "Fuck this." He muttered, and in all the commotion ducked out of sight. He headed into the woods to the thicker bamboo south of the range, just south of the runway. Within a matter of minutes he was back at the range, carrying his satchel. He took out the SPAS12 and strapped it into the quick access holster on his leg, then pulled out the M30A4, quickly pulling as many magazines as he could fit into his pockets. Then he jammed extra 12 gauge shells into his pockets as well, for the SPAS. Pulling on his DPM jacket, Raythus looked towards Robert and said "Please, never hand me an AK again..." Raythus looked over towards the sounds of gunfire. 'Go time' he thought.

Andz watched Raythus from afar through the scope of the .50 keeping the crosshairs directly on the man's head. He left him alone, walking back to the group. He had heard the gunfire, but could not see its origin, even through the scope. Pulling the tools he needed from the webbing system, he quickly rebuilt the Minimi. He slung it across his front, leaving his back free for the Barrett. The weight was immense, bit Andz didn't mind. He would just be mobile, vehicule based.

And what was that guy's problem with AKs? They were some of the greatest weapons in the world, hence its popularity. Andz rolled his eyes, "Amateurs." He thought to himself.

Naru heard the chat-chat sound of distant gunfire, and immediately checked to see if her rifle was loaded. Seeing that it was, she quickly checked the scope on the rifle at the targets down the end of the range, sending off two bullets and making a quick adjustment to the scope. Taking one more shot, she was satisfied with her equipment, and moved up to Robert.

"Got a high position that I can sniper from?" She asked simply, not taking the time to give him another option. "If I can get a clear shot at that machine gunner, it'd make life a hell of a lot easier for you to get into the Sat room."

"There's a narrow set of steps leading up to the top of this rock formation." Greg answered, pointing to the far end of the target range. "If you want to, you can go now, while nobody's shooting. I'll come with you, if you don't trust me." He added, grabbing a Dragunov that had been left on the side.

Greg lead Naru out of the sheltered firing point, stopping quickly in the supply room to grab three box magazines for the Dragunov, and then went straight across the now quiet firing range, to where a narrow, yet straight, stair led up into the rock formation, where upon reaching the top, Greg began to crouch and move to a suitable firing position. Although the position of the stairs was awkward, it was a well planned idea, as it would mean that the only easy entrance to a sniper position would be constantly guarded from intruders by those practising.

Meanwhile, Solaski had called to the others practising at the range, which consisted of four guards in woodland DMPs and one ill-dressed pirate. Solaski then proceeded to explaim the situation, although it was more than obvious to everyone by the sounds of infrequent explosions that were coming through the muffled back wall of the firing point structure that sheltered practising marksmen from the elements and stretched all the way across the width of the range.
"We all know the situation now," Solaski continued, "the enemy has attacked from the south, so our best bet it to make our way through the pine forest where Raythus retrieved his equipment, and take back our port with the support of Greg and Naru from above. I will have no questions about trust here- if I trust them, then you will too."

Naru followed Greg out of the sheltered range area, stopping only at a supply room. Locating a box of ammunition for both the mauser and pistol, she jammed them into her back pocket, and headed up the narrow stair behind Greg.

Aft seeing Greg's set up, she decided on the more comfortable traditional sniper post, laying down flat on her stomach, but not before checking the sun's position and making sure that there would be no reflection off the scope.

She positioned her rifle, the barrell of it in her right hand, her left on the trigger, and peered through the scope to get a bearing on the attackers. An enemy head popped into view, and she resisted the urge to fire, to draw attention to herself and the ground squad. She looked over at Greg, not moving the rifle, and said "I've got a target, can you get them to signal us when it's go?"

Raythus checked his weapons, cocking the rifle and reloading before standing to attention. He was ready to move out and follow Solaski's orders. He stood around waiting for orders, hoping the action would start soon...In fact, he was itching to get into battle to prove himself to these pirates. He checked his weapon again, then said "Yo, Robert, we moving or what?"

Andz seemed distant, completely unaffected by the rapidly deteriorating situation. Obviously, Robert's delaying had cost Andz his attention, and now he seemed more intent on looking at the clouds go past and humming to himself calmly. His weapon was still held in his hands, but sort of limply, as if he was not paying great heed to it.

He was miles away.

"Chiyo, I think it's best you stay here." Solaski continued. "You haven't got enough experience shooting and we don't want to have to explain your disappearance." Turning back to Robert, Solaski indicated that they should move out towards the pine forest. "Oh and Bob, can you give Greg a call on the radio and tell them to give us covering?"

With that, Robert began talking into the microphone, while Solaski made his way to the back of the group and indicated that they should start moving out.

Greg's radio crackled to life. "Greg, Naru, it's Robert. We're jsut moving out, just try to watch our back for us and see if you can take out that gunner."
